DISCOVER THIS NEW MOUNTAIN BIKE AND FATBIKE PARADISE

Located only 60 minutes from the Greater Montreal area and 45 minutes from Ottawa-Gatineau, Montebello Mountain Bike offers a new 25-kilometer network of mountain bike and fatbike trails to be explored by cyclists of all calibers on the historic and majestic land of 1800’s patriot Louis-Joseph Papineau.

Featuring breathtaking panoramas and unique natural elements, this accessible and affordable activity for the entire family is overseen by passionate local mountain bikers from the small tourist town of Montebello – one of the first areas to develop the sport in Quebec in the 1980’s.

Your journey will lead you to an incredible view of the Ottawa River, a passage through a grotto, a magnificent forest of massive century-old pine trees and a millennial monolith.

Our welcome center, bike rental facility and free parking lot are located at the prestigious Fairmont Le Château Montebello, the largest log cabin ever built. Guests staying at this world-class hotel built in 1930 can hit the trails barely a few meters away from their room!

      EXPLORE MAJESTIC TRAILS

Montebello boasts a 30-year history for the sport as it hosted the Canadian Mountain Biking Championship in 1988, as well as several other races in the 1990’s and 2000’s in trails described as ‘incredible gems’ by Velo Mag at the time.

Nearly 15 years after the disappearance of this legendary network, our goal is to bring back the mountain bike glory days of Montebello by reviving some of the classic trails and mostly by creating new modern trails.

The new center is in development and currently offers 20 km of adventures for all types of cyclists: trails accessible to beginners, narrow singletracks, technical loops on rocky ridges and long old-school loops from the original network. Winter lovers can trade in their mountain bikes for fatbikes during the cold season.

      CURATED BY PASSIONATE MOUNTAIN BIKERS

With your help and support – along with our team of volunteers, partners and generous landowners – our goal is to reach over 60 km of trails in the next few years to become a major mountain bike and fatbike destination in Eastern Canada.

Aside from Château Montebello, many lodging options are available for all budgets including motels, B&B, cottages and campgrounds. The trails can also be accessed from the marina and the Green Route.
