The Mosquito Creek Trails will be a regional, year-round outdoor recreation destination with more than 10 miles of backcountry trails that will increase opportunities for physical activity, connection to nature, adventure, economic vitality, and ultimately, a higher quality of life for the Muskegon area.

The 500-acre project area in central Muskegon County, off Maple Island Road south of the Muskegon River just north of M46/Apple Avenue is highlighted by the forested valley of Mosquito Creek. This recreation improvement project is a collaborative endeavor spearheaded by Muskegon County and Michigan’s Edge Mountain Biking Association. The partners have already secured the expertise of premier trail professionals to design experiences for all interest and skill levels of trail users; whether visitors are seeking a serene walk through the woods, a heart pounding two-hour mountain bike adventure, or a 10k trail run/snowshoe, the Mosquito Creek Trails will be the region’s go-to trail destination.

The trail system will include six trails, with 3.35 miles of beginner/easier trail, 6.11 miles of intermediate trails, and 1.5 miles of advanced trail.

Michigan’s EDGE mountain bike club contracted Dirt Artisans of Covington, KY to develop the design and to flag corridors for mountain bike trail development on the Mosquito Creek Parcel in Muskegon County, Michigan in 2017. Read the full report.
