SaveMud Lakes sit in the Shulaps Range, east of the South Chilcotin Mountains. The region lacks the rich coloured rock of the Chilcotins, and the meadows are dryer, less lush. On the other hand, they can be dryer, and with long, alpine sections to a number of the trails.
Being mostly outside of Parks, this area also attracts ATV's and motorcycles, particularly trials bikes.
Note that the Shulaps have access restrictions: No off trail above 1720m and no motor access above 1900m. This is to protect sheep for the fall hunt.
