SaveMost refer to this trail network as OCC which is an acronym for Ouita Coal Company. Some of the original users in the River Valley also call this the "Sweet Spot". OCC single track mountain bike trail originated as a dirt bike track and has morphed into a cross country mountain bike trail. Note: dirt bikes are now prohibited from this location.
This trail network is laid out as the expression of a lollipop loop. This stick portion of the lollipop is a 1.5 mile access trail that user must return on the same 1.5mi access trail, this trail is labeled as WHITE. The WHITE trail totals in at least 3 miles no matter what loop you complete furthermore. Proceeding the WHITE trail is a network of loops with numerous ways to connect and route the rest of OCC MTB trails. There are a few shortcut access points to bypass the interior RED (1.5mi) and BLUE(2.5mi) trails. The loops navigate westward to the end of the OCC area and turn back East connecting back to the WHITE trail intersection. These trails are all bi-directional but preferred direction is Clockwise.
Expect a hard packed surface covered in leaves and pine needles for most of the season. There are many natural laying's of roots and rock gardens, flat corners, bermed corners, and some punchy climbs to navigate. There are numerous lake views worth breaking for, a few break areas are equipped with park benches.
I-40 is loud in the North and Lake Dardanelle rests in the South, navigate back East to parking lot for any need of departure. There are maps at trail confluences for direction reassurance.
