On June–July National Park enjoys midnight sun. Sun stays above the horizon all day long, 24/7
Biking allowed on National Park's marked summer hiking trails since summer 2017. Easiest trails are in Ylläs area. In Pallas-Hetta area some most trails are very demanding and are for experienced bikers - like 55km Hetta-Pallas-route. 300 km of marked summer trails within National Park, +200 km in nearby area Ylläs, Levi and Hetta/Enontekiö.
Ylläs winter biking routes (100 km) takes fat bikers through snowy forests and Finnish mountain landscapes. Raattama Trails (~70 km's) are in mixed use - cross country skiing and biking allowed side by side on magnificient mountain landscapes! Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights season begins in September when days gets shorter. Auroras goes until spring, as long as nights are dark.
Over 70 maintained shelters along the routes:
32 Wilderness Huts: free of charge
38 Lean-To and Lapp Huts, free of charge
7 Reservable Wilderness Huts and Lapp Huts
Visitor Centres
Our customer service will guide you to the attractions of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park and its finest hiking trails. The free exhibitions of visitor centres will provide you with an introduction to local nature and culture. The centres also host changing art exhibitions. We organise nature information sessions and numerous other events round the year. You can visit our shop to purchase maps and local products and to enjoy fell scenery over a cup of coffee. The visitor centres are accessible and also suitable for families with young children. Also free parking.
