SaveLe parc national de la Gaspésie fut créé en avril 1937 dans le but de protéger de façon permanente le caribou de la Gaspésie, la beauté du mont Albert et des monts McGerrigle ainsi que le saumon de la rivière Sainte-Anne. Ce territoire est aujourd'hui reconnu comme un haut lieu de la randonnée au Québec. L’altitude des montagnes du parc influence profondément le climat qui modèle tout le paysage et crée une diversité d’espèces unique au Québec et même au monde. Plantes arctiques-alpines et paysages de toundra constituent l’habitat de prédilection d’une harde de caribous, derniers représentants de cette espèce au sud du Saint-Laurent.
