Small trail system separated from the main Placitas trails. These trails don't get as much traffic as some of the other trails in the region but they are worth a visit. The trails closest to the main parking area are in the best shape. Things get a little more primitive the farther out you go. The Northern section has a network of old ranch roads that would be good for young kids. Nothing technical but good views.
The area is divided between Albuquerque Open Space and Bureau of Land Management. The Southeast section is Open Space and closed to motor vehicles. The BLM area is open to ATV/Motos so there are a lot of old tracks.
There is also a small family of wild horses in the BLM area.
