SaveThe Plimpton Community Forest was purchased in 2015. This 281-acre parcel can be accessed from 277 New Boston Road. The forest is a mix of oak, sugar maple, pine, and a variety of other species. The property was recently logged, and will continue to be used as a working forest managed for sustainable forestry. The property has numerous stone walls that give a glimpse of the agrarian history of the land. An old cellar hole, well, and other remnants of the mid1800’s homestead are clearly visible along the abandoned road that runs through the middle of the property. The recent logging operation opened up the view, revealing stone walls that mark the open fields that were present around the time of the Civil War.
