SaveThe Puddon Hill Trail Network consist of two distinct areas - North of Puddon Street and South of Puddon Street. There are three places to park, but in order to maximize the amount of trails ridden, it is best to park by the West Hill Dam entrance on Mendon Road, ride the Turtle Tail Trail to the North Puddon Trails and end with the Southern Puddon Trails exiting on Mendon Road, riding downhill back to the car.
North of Puddon Street - These trails are well laid out, surprisingly open, very ridable and mostly easy to follow.
The trails are generally well defined with relatively smooth, solid and hardpacked surfaces, interspersed with some root, rock and rough. There are a number of easy to light technical rock wall crossings as well as other rock features.
South of Puddon Street - These trails are best ridden from North to South as there are a lot of steep hills, making for a fun downhill section leading to Mendon Road.
While the trails have a lot of elevation change, its is generally quite manageable with a lot of fun switchbacks, double backs and meandering along contours, with many short, punchy climbs. Towards the northeast, along Warren Brook, the elevation changes are generally more modest and undulating, with the steeper sections towards the west and the summit of Puddon Hill (marked on the map). Getting to the summit the climb is easier if the loop is done anti-clockwise. Either way, the climb to the summit is greatly rewarded with some fun and flowy downhills.

Access Info:
To access the trails North of Puddon Street, there is a big parking area at about 100 Pleasant Street in Upton, sufficient for approximately 15 cars. From the parking area ride south (up the hill) on Pleasant Street (it becomes Quaker Street where it crosses Warren Brook) for about 500 yards. The entrance to the trail network is to the left of Pleasant/Quaker Street, via a forest path at the end of the guard rails. The trails are to the left, about 100 yards in.
To access the trails South of Puddon Street, park by the entrance to West Hill Dam on Mendon Road where the Turtle Tail Trail starts. You can also park next to the entrance by the Yippee Ki Yay Trail. Parking here is limited, however.
