While San Diego is considered by many riders to be more mellow than other trails in California, it certainly has something for everyone. Head to PQ canyon and you'll find many trails that are good for beginner and intermediate riders, as well as a couple jump lines for the more advanced. It's also good for the XC riders as well, as there are many fire roads & steep, sometimes punchy climbs. Head to Black Mountain if you like the more rocky trails, and go to Hodges if you're into a mix of the aforementioned riding areas. It's also a somewhat good location for travelling, as Noble Canyon, one of SoCal's best downhill trails, and many other popular DH trails aren't too far away (40- 1 hour drive).
