SaveSan Felasco Hammock was purchased under Florida’s Environmentally Endangered Lands Program in 1974 due to its diversity of plants and geological features. Today at over 7,000 acres, it is one of the largest protected contiguous stands of mesic hammock in Florida.
San Felasco Hammock boasts some of Florida’s finest mountain bike, equestrian, and hiking trails, as well as open spaces for hand launched glider flight thanks to the continued dedication and support of our members and volunteers.
The San Felasco hiking trailhead, located on Millhopper Road, offers about 13 miles trails for nature viewing, hiking and trail running.Color markers are used to distinguish each trail. Dogs on a hand-held 6-foot leash are welcome. No bicycles or horses are allowed on these trails.

The park offers outdoor adventure to hikers, off-road bicyclists, horseback riders and nature lovers. To ensure solitude and quiet for a true wilderness experience, the southern two-thirds of the park are designated for hiking only.
The northern third of the park has horse trails, off-road cycling and hiking. Equestrians must carry proof of a negative Coggins test.
The hiking trailhead is located four miles northwest of Gainesville on State Road 232 at 11101 Millhopper Road.
The horseback and bicycle trailheads are located just south of Alachua off U.S. 441.

No pets are allowed on the bike or horse trails. Leashed dogs only are allowed on the hiking trails accessed from Millhopper Road.
