SaveSpanning from Embudito Trailhead on the South to the Sandia Tram Base on the North, the North Foothills are the tamer, more gradual, easier to navigate, and smoother cousin to the South Foothills. In general the North Foothills are more beginner friendly. Multiple trailheads access this area, some areas provide free parking and others require a fee.
Take note of the parking lot hours as will/may lock you in depending on who is patrolling at the time. Do not leave valuables in plain view inside the vehicle.
This area is composed of Sandia USFS and City Open Space. E-bikes are not allowed on any forest service land. Certain trails in the Open Space areasare open to Class 1 E-bikes. Check with the City of Albuquerque site for allowed areas.
