The Schweitzer Basin multi use recreation trail system has been developed with cooperation between the landowners; Schweitzer Mountain Resort and the City of Sandpoint, the local bike club Pend Oreille Pedalers and the Selkirk Recreation District.

Up to dozen trail sections make up the system and they make for a great day outing for all levels and abilities of mountain bikers, hikers and runners.

Courtesy and etiquette remark: Downhill mountain bikers, 1. Go slow when approaching hikers, runners and other mountain bikers 2. Give right-of-way to those travelling uphill 3. Communicate to other riders and pedestrians how many are in your riding group.

Of special note: The Selkirk Rec District provides a shuttle on Saturdays and Sundays with stops at the Park and Ride, the 2nd Switchback lot and Schweitzer Village and the Spires, a private development.
Pick up times: 10:00am Park and Ride, 11:00 2nd Switchback, 12:00 Park and Ride. 1:00 2nd Switchback and 2:00 Park and Ride $5.00 per person.
      Primary Trail Type: Cross-Country
      Shuttleable: YES
