SaveDistante cerca de 290 km de Belo Horizonte, esta unidade de conservação tem 14.984 hectares de matas nativas e uma paisagem dominada por montanhas, vales, chapadas e encostas e diversos cursos d’água que integram as bacias dos rios Paraíba do Sul e Doce. O Parque Estadual Serra do Brigadeiro ocupa terrenos dos municípios de Araponga, Fervedouro, Miradouro, Ervália, Sericita, Pedra Bonita, Muriaé e Divino e tem vários Picos: o mais alto é o do Soares (1.985m) e o mais visitado é o Pico do Boné (1.870 m). A Mata Atlântica, principal formação vegetal da área, está intercalada com os Campos de Altitude e afloramentos rochosos, formando um belo cenário. Considerado um paraíso botânico é também refúgio de espécies da fauna ameaçadas de extinção, como o sauá, o mono-carvoeiro ou muriqui, a onça-pintada, a jaguatirica, o sapo-boi. Também podem ser observadas diversas espécies de aves, inclusive a famosa Araponga.
