SaveThis is mostly a XC area with over 100km of trails. The trail network has been evolving over the last several years with a number of trails being upgraded and now having some flow. A large number of the trails are still not well suited to the absolute beginner rider, as most trails are quite difficult and continuously technical. A significant trail upgrade project has occurred from 2023 into 2025 including the creation of several longer adaptive or aMTB accessible loops. Additionally a purpose built aMTB blue flow trail called Tres Hombres was built in 2024. Trails vary from dense forest to open rock bluff, unique to this area is the almost total absence of roads giving riders a feeling of “being out there”. Mostly signed the trails are marked for the recommendedred direction of travel.

You'll find this forest west of Campbell River and north of Highway 28 near Loveland Bay Provincial Park. Lost Lake parking lot on the right of Loveland Bay Road (on the way to Loveland Bay Provincial Campground) is the primary parking area for the Snowden. An alternate start point is the Lost Frog parking lot on Devlin Rd off of Iron River Main. Note: Devlin Rd is a private road south of Lost Frog Parking lot and there is no access to Loveland Bay Main via Devlin Rd. Of note - access is currently via Gordon Road to Loveland Bay Main or Iron River Main while work is underway on the John Hart Dam and access from Hwy 28 is restricted.
