Spokane Hills South is a 2500 acre part of the McMaster ranch which is now managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The area is mostly open grasslands and has a sparse amount of trees due to the Bucksnort fire of 2000, Pine Beetles, and a smaller fire near the radio towers in 2013. There are acres of dead and fallen trees as a result.
The trails are mainly doubletrack roads, some of which are covered in grass and low vegetation, and trail users will be rewarded with great views of the Little Belt Mountains and Canyon Ferry Lake.
