      Tarazona es un municipio y ciudad española perteneciente a la provincia de Zaragoza, en la comunidad autónoma de Aragón. Es la capital de la comarca de Tarazona y el Moncayo, cabeza del partido judicial homónimo y sede episcopal de la Diócesis de Tarazona desde al menos el año 449.3​

      Ocupa un espacio geográfico que históricamente ha sido frontera entre los reinos de Castilla, Navarra y Aragón. Esta singularidad, unida a que la comarca es un paso natural entre la Meseta Norte y el valle medio del río Ebro, han otorgado a Tarazona un carácter estratégico durante siglos. La ciudad se convirtió en la Edad Media en un enclave de referencia para las relaciones comerciales, diplomáticas, militares y religiosas —la Diócesis estaba conformada por territorios de tres reinos distintos—. Sin embargo, la progresiva unificación de las Coronas de Castilla y Aragón fue devaluando ese valor estratégico. Hasta entonces, Tarazona fue testigo de bodas reales, pactos, guerras y celebraciones de Cortes.

      La fundación prerromana de la ciudad —así como su temprana designación como sede episcopal— han ido conformando el casco antiguo como un espacio monumental y con un gran valor histórico-artístico. La convivencia pacífica durante siglos de comunidades cristianas, judías y musulmanas ha enriquecido todavía más el conjunto urbano. El patrimonio turiasonense abarca desde el siglo i a. C. hasta el siglo xx. Tarazona cuenta con una larga tradición industrial, de cuyas numerosas fábricas quedan importantes vestigios de patrimonio industrial.
