SaveTranquilitas Adventure Farm is a rock climbing and mountain biking mecca, with over 600 bolted climbing routes and 50 km of single track mountain bike trails. Unique campsite with bouldering wall over the pool and accommodation to suit all budgets.
There are a few guys in South Africa you can trust when it comes to all things mountain biking. Glenn Harrison is one of them and, if you know the name, you will immediately understand why you need to ride his trails at Tranquilitas.
Most of the routes consist of a rollicking combo of purpose-built single-track, hiking trails and gravel roads, and will therefore suit all levels of rider. Enjoy the super-tight, fast and flowing sections, especially through the Zorro swerves in the forest, and take occasional breathers to enjoy the many viewpoints and historical landmarks.
There will be climbing, but the ascents are pretty rideable, following the contours of the landscape. The up-side of this is that the elevation gain is quick - and very achievable - without too many gear changes
The descents are 98% rideable, and the brave will blast the wooden bridges and drop-offs others agonise over. All in all, the routes are extremely well marked, and the Blue Trail is suitable for families. Plus there are all those jeep tracks around the campsite to keep the kids occupied …plus there is a kiddies track at the campsite where parents can keep an eye over the young ones – whilst enjoying a cuppacino
The four-X track or jump track is sure to entertain the kid in all of us.
Single track MTB trails start from the Tranquilitas camp site.
They are cut to cater for all skill levels from beginner to the advanced rider. Trail master, Glenn Harrison (from Harrison’s Pass – joberg2C) has designed the trails to be fast and flowing, past as many landmarks and historical sites that the area has to offer. The climbs are smooth and follow the contours of the landscape resulting in a quick elevation gain without too many gear changes
