SaveWainuiomata Trail Park is a joint venture between Hutt City Council and the Wainuiomata Trail Project (a group of keen mountain bikers and volunteers). The park is mixed use (mountain biking and running) and e-bike friendly.
Trails range from easy climbs to technical down hills, and there are a great selection of beginner/family tracks and a skills area. The tracks are set in regenerating native bush and also a significant wetland area.
Waiu Reserve in the lower park has a large flat grassed area next to the car park, with a shelter and toilet facilitates, which can be used for events. Bookings are made though the Hutt City Council.

There are 3 starting points: Waiu Street, Wainuomata (the main carpark and starting point),the summit of Wainuiomata Hill Road (less parking here) or via the Te Whiti Riser (starting at Te Whiti Park). The Pukeatapu Bridge provides safe walking and biking over the Wainuiomata road summit.
Access can also be gained from the East Harbour Regional Park, and the ECNZ road (via a number of firebreaks)
