SaveWestern Heritage Park attempts to answer the question, "How much beauty and variety can you pack into a postage stamp-sized piece of land?" "Plenty" is the park's answer. The WHiP (as it is affectionately called) is blessed with good genes--a creek surrounded by hard woods, rolling terrain, epic rocks, and colorful history. The approximately 4.5 miles of trail is open to biking, hiking, walking, and trail running. Dogs are welcome on a leash, and "doggie doo" bags are provided near the trailhead kiosk. Interpretive signs provide insight into the area's past and are courtesy of Texas Frontier Trails and area businesses. A porta-potty and picnic tables complete the trail amenity list. There is no potable water in the park.
