The Wild Mersey trail network has been created in a joint venture between the Latrobe and Kentish councils and with the support of the Cradle Coast Mountain Bike Club.
The first and second stages at Warrawee Reserve and Railton are now open and the third stage has had it's first sections of trail opened, with more to come.
The trails will connect the towns of Latrobe, Railton and Sheffield. Each town will have a trailhead with toilet and bike wash facilities with Railton and Sheffield also having showers. Once completed the network will have up to 100km of trail ranging from easy green rated trail to more extreme black diamond jump lines. It will feature stunning views from Kimberleys lookout over Sheffield and Mt Roland, and beautiful riverside trail.
