What another gem. But one that requires work, hard work! A friend and I rode the Kilckatat Trail #7 in it's entirety east to west June 22, 2019 for the beginning of my annual solstice Ride and man was it punishing yet rewarding!

We need to organize a BIG work party to clear the dozens (or hundreds) of fallen trees and encroaching brush over the 16 miles. Some new bench cut and trailbed work may be needed but once the clearing is done it'll ride very well.

Also up to four feet of snow still in spots so expect to use your navigational skills so you don't lose the path.

Eastbound travel will be just as difficult but will have some better descents and some easier ascents. If you plan to ride this give yourself the whole day. Even in prime condition it would be tough and water access is minimal especially later in the season.

Been hearing about this trail for years and finally did an out and back from the east trailhead. What a gem! True alpine ridge singletrack. No... view

Thanks for the report. I rode the trail in the eastbound direction about 15 years ago and found too many short downs and unrideable ups to make it a frustrating ride. It was also foggy so I couldn't get much help from the views. I doubt many people will want to ride this but it's nice to have a true backcountry option. Hopefully, FS will keep clearing it every few years.

Igor! I've seen you around on random backcountry Stava segments for years now and just the other day was joking with a friend about it. But yes, I agree but also appreciate having these rad remote trails we can ride without seeing a single soul! Perhaps are paths will cross sometime and we can do a ride.

Awesome report! Did you do an OAB? is there any other option? Would love to see more of these kinds of trails come to life.

Thanks man! We didn't do an OAB just have awesome girlfriends that picked us up when we were toast. Ha! But I bet you could ride back east (or west) on forest roads and it'd be pretty quick.
