Maderuelo, Valdevarnés, Fuentemizarra, Moral de Hornuez y Carabias son la columna vertebral de esta ruta BTT.

El trazado tiene aproximadamente 39 km de longitud y la primera mitad está diseñada en ascenso, descendiendo la segunda parte hasta nuestro punto de partida.

Destaca el paso por el Cerro Lucas 1.300 metros de altitud desde el que se divisa un panorama espectacular algunos días claros de invierno se llegan a ver los Picos de Europa.

En Valdevarnés, emplazada en un cerro y rodeada de magníficas vistas, destaca la Iglesia románica de San Cristóbal, templo de una sola nave y cabecera en forma de ábside. Conserva el pórtico, con los arcos cegados. También son muy interesantes las pinturas clasicistas (s.XVI) de Gabriel de Sosa.

Otro punto de interés es la Ermita de la Vera Cruz de Maderuelo, una sencilla ermita románica que en su interior albergaba uno de los mejores conjuntos de frescos medievales castellanos.

Fue declarada Monumento Histórico Artístico en 1924. Aunque los frescos originales ya no se encuentran aquí, sí que se pueden contemplar unas magníficas réplicas. En el año 1947 los frescos originales se trasladaron al Museo del Prado.

En el término de Carabias se encuentra el Pago de los Castillos con el asentamiento celtíbero más antiguo de España. En este lugar se cree que existió un castro o fortaleza.

02. Valdevarnés is a 24 mile less popular intermediate route located near Riaza. This mountain bike primary route can be used one direction and has a moderate overall physical rating. This route climbs 1,864 ft with a max elevation of 4,172 ft then descends -1,814 ft.
