Trail Cold Creek
This is not a climbing trail just to reiterate.
Also, the $99 ticket for fail to display discovery pass is legit those communists are not afraid to lay it on your vehicle. Have fun!

Trail Cold Creek
Unrelated question, but are there legal shooting areas around cold creek? I constantly hear gun fire and see casings on the climb up and it got me on high alert. Thanks.

Trail Cold Creek
Yes, there are some shooting pits in the area.

Trail Cold Creek
Top third is technical with rock gardens. Not worth the extra 4 miles or so of climbing. Ride the bottom 2/3 twice if you want extra miles

Trail Tarbell
I did the Tarbell Loop (clockwise) yesterday, and this trail was completely snowed in, I should have researched the elevation a bit more. Can’t wait to do the loop without a bike on my back in waist deep snow. Still a little snow on the top of Cold a Creek right after this trail, otherwise, amazing loop!

Trail Cold Creek
Definitely an upper/lower trail. The upper part descends from Larch Mtn to the top of Sixth Sense and is steep in spots with a huge shale garden that will kick you around for a bit until you get back into the trees, twisting down the hillside that features a gnarly optional root garden and drop. I'd rate the upper part a blue-black or a black. The lower part isn't quite as steep and features more flow and a lot of optional small jumps and drops. Wicked fun that includes some more root and rock gardens. The climb up to the top of Larch Mtn is a grinder, especially the last 500 ft above Thrillium, so keep that in mind.

Took a gamble to hit this bad boy! On the way to vacation And it was worth every second! Best trail ive hit in 5 years its as close to park flow ive seen. The jumps are really long so I cased alot of them but the rockgarden is the best ive ridden in years if not ever! What a gem!

Trail Cold Creek
Best ride I’ve had so far in the NW. Good downhill speed at times, rolling flats at others. Perfect scenery. Slightly wet at points this weekend but definitely worth the ride.

@salamander-workshop: under no circumstance should any person pedal up thrillium. Take road 1070 and Ross’s Grade up. The moment you drop in for the descent you’ll realize why no one should ever climb it. It’s concerning that it’s not officially DH only.

Trail Cold Creek
We only rode the first ~ 1/2, finishing up on Sixth Sense. I would say this rates more Blue/Black than Blue. Some of the riders in our group had trouble with the steep and loose nature of the trail, and they generally ride blue trails with no issues. I personally thought the scree field was just annoying as it tried to throw up rocks to crack my frame.
Next time I'll probably ride just the lower half since the climb to the very top is brutal and not worth it IMO.

Trail L1500 Road
We climbed (often pushed) this to the very top of Cold Creek. It's something I will never do again. Road is stupid steep, and with tons of loose rock. Also, top section of CC trail isn't that great anyway IMO, so definitely not worth a climb like this.

Park at the parking lot for thrillium to access the road. If you park further up, you may get ticketed. There’s a gate about a quarter mile from the parking lot. Discover pass required to park.

Trail Thrillium
Thrillium is such a compelling trail, probably the best gravity trail in 200 miles in any direction. Significantly harder than most single blacks in the area. While it is probably a single black to ride it, it definitely enters double black territory if you're riding it anywhere near fast enough to clear the features.

Trail Cold Creek
I am curious to know if anyone else has gotten a flat tire on the gravel road leading to the cold creek trail head? I have gotten a flat tire on the last two trips I made, and to make it more weird, brand new tires as well !

Trail Cold Creek
I had a flat last week on the L-1000 road before 4 corners on medium worn truck tires. Looked like a sharp rock. My guess is that as the road gets more blown out in the summer, sharp rocks that are lodged into the ground are no longer covered by as much loose gravel, making the road a little tougher on tires.

Trail Cold Creek
When half my group showed up with kneepads and full-face helmets — or BOTH — I wondered what I had gotten myself into. I'd rate this trail as "Intermediate With Real Consequences". Maybe start to rotate that blue square counter-clockwise about 15-degrees and darken the hue a little ;-)

In our family we have bikers and runners, I can let the bikers off to pedal up to the tower and then down, drive around to the bottom of the trail and usually make it a bit over 2 miles up the trail before we meet, I hand off the keys and keep running. Usually get to the top and down the road to the parking area about the time they have gotten the cold drinks out.
I run this trail year round and very seldom see anyone on the upper third of the trail and really not that many on the lower part either.
We have run and biked all over North American and Europe and there may be some longer and steeper but for being in my back yard this trail is a good as a lot of them.
From a runners view going up hill or down I would rate this thing black, you have to pay attention the whole time, there is no coasting.
