Fun connector to RMR. Condition is not as the photo, it has its moments.

This is a very enjoyable downhill run. You can keep really good speed the whole way down and plenty of tech sections.

I have no idea what any of these comments are about! This trail is a BLAST! The way it leads into making a choice between going on secret or hitting the rest of the flow on Hawes makes it a trail to keep coming back too

I don’t think climbing on this trail is a bad as its reputation. It does have one tight steep squeeze that I had to hike-a-bike. Access on Middle Hawes is way worse.

Note: the current trail sign at Red Mtn Rush/Goat intersection shows Lower Gidro, not Cactus Garden, in case you are looking for it starting from the ridge. Head down Lower Gidro and stay left at the fork to hit Cactus Garden.

Rode downhill, lots of variety the whole way, plus great views. Actually saw more hikers on this trail than any other, all headed uphill, keep a look out for them (and their puppies).

Super nice trail, several ups and downs with occasional rocks to negotiate to keep things interesting. The view is amazing!

Super difficult as a climb, mostly hike a bike for me. But it was over pretty quickly and then you’re right at the top of the ridge

I wouldn’t rate this a black. And IMO not really worth it. It’s not really flowy, and it’s not technical. Just sends you into wash after wash that you’ll have to climb up. Good for getting some calories burnt, but I’d rather have a reward at the end. Here, no rewards, not much fun.

Very fun Blue/Black trail fast finish. High quality to hone skills for tougher Blacks like Iron GOAT and NRA and Sunset Ridge

Fun trail, flowy and fast. will make you wish you worked on your switchbacks more! Black rating is probably a little overkill - it's got some steep sections, but not much for technical moves.

It kicked my butt but I enjoyed this trail. A little like doing interval training with all the ups and downs, but I rode it from east to west and enjoyed the downhills.

Smooth for a black, will probably get a bit more smooth with more people riding. Road at night, good view of the city. Nice areas 2/3 the way through to zone out, let the gong go off in your head, birds chirping, pump a little here, a little there, and just shred

Fun trail, with a good of loop to do laps of. Definitely would call it a blue though. Would be nice if they built some more difficult features as alternative lines. Also watch out for the runoff ditches towards the bottom, they're pretty deep and can buck you if your carrying speed.

Love this trail, my only complaint is the switchbacks they put in part way down, would have been cool if they had a "more difficult" bypass section which was steeper downhill.

Fun trail. A lot smoother than other black trails in the area. Maybe the exposure adds to the difficulty rating? I look forward to riding it again.

I parked at Walgreens, pedaled in 3 miles to the Hawes trail head off of Los Sendas Mountain Dr. When I got to N Diamond point just before the trail head, I seen lots of Mt bikers and asked. They said ride around the gates and go up a little ways and you will see a trail off to the right. That is where I entered. It meets up with Hawes. The guys told me the actual trail I was heading for is super steep up hill and not fun. I want to check it out someday but I was annoyed by the 3 mile pedal in on pavement. I probably wont enter their again. I might park at Wallgreens again but I would enter right on the other side of Powers Rd, along side the wash.

Riding from West to East this is a fairly easy climb that can than be connected to Secret to loop back around and also hit for a descent. The descent is very flowy with some small berms in the corners. The descent is very fun and can be connected with the drop feature at the end where this trail connects with Ridge and Saguaro. Highly recommend for an easy flowy/fun ride!

I’ll second that ☝????. The abundance of super dry kitty litter makes the initial climb very frustrating. HAB for roughly the first .5mi and even then, traction on the shoes was iffy.

Probably my favorite trail in the park. It is definitely difficult, but if you really crave a challenge, there are 2 steep sections towards the middle of the trail. Both have a fairly easy low line, and a difficult high line. At the top there is an old mineshaft, but I'm pretty sure someone relived themselves in there. The views are also pretty awesome.

Not worth the time if you are climbing. Atm it is too washed out to climb at any skill level, and generally is pretty gnarly. I generally skip this one and use one of the acess paths cutting down to the road.

The trail is public. The owner of the big home on the south side of the formal entrance about 500 yards east from Hawes Road is infamous and probably the person claiming it’s not.

I've only ridden down this, don't think I'd want to pedal up. My suggestion is to do a big loop around Wild Horse and come up the back side, it's mostly reasonable climbing although there's some HAB (for me) on Goat Trail. It's a ripping descent that continues into the lower system.

Possible the entrance you were at might be on or near private land. The Hawes trails are apart of the Tonto National Forest and I have ridden there many times without any issues. I cannot imagine something being part of a National Forest be private as it is on public land.

Below is a link to google maps of where I always enter. I have not entered through any other entrances.

I’ve ridden this both ways, and it is FAR better from east to west. Very narrow and, with tight turns and up/downs, but it’s all pretty rideable and flows pretty well. It’s a lot of work, though. The trail has become far more ridden in over the past few months (I’m writing this in Jan, 201Cool , and will only get better. West to east has a lot of short, loose ups out of steep washes, and is far more difficult. I hated it in that direction, but that was also before the trail was ridden in much. This is a worthy option to complete loops at Hawes.

Clearly pretty new, but it’s in great shape. Didn’t think it was looser than anything else at Hawes. It starts out pretty fun but I didn’t care for all the dips into the cat claws in the middle. You spend a lot of time climbing back out and there’s no real reward for the effort.

Just rode the trail on 7/22/17 and the trail in several areas has been washed out due monsoon rains. So its a little rough. Also I personally would put the climb at the beginning a double black diamond.
