The classic old school MTB one lap race will not change however the addition of timed enduro segments throughout the course will add an exciting new dimension to the events. There are 3 courses, ranging from short, mid and long in length. There will be great views of the lakes and landscape that makes the Whakarewarewa Forest such a unique destination. Have you got what it takes to become the champion of the Winter MTB Series 2016.

The second half, after Split Enz has enjoyed a lot of maintenance recently to manage all the rain we've had. It's in great condition. Thank you team, really appreciated.

Old trail which isn’t very popular anymore, for good reason. Rooty without much gradient, so just awkward to ride.

Wide open steep DH sections and uphill climbs. Track is mainly wide open.

Great wee track, and an excellent short cut back to Waipa Carpark from the Forest Loop. Don't know which trail user thought it is a grade 5 (maybe somebody who has never ridden a grade 5?) I would consider it a solid 3.

Tried to ride this from the top of Pig Track, but it looks like it's been destroyed as part of recent logging work. The same with Soakhole. A shame, they were great tracks.

The climb section should be marked as closed. It has been disrupted by quarrying and is unrideable for large sections.

Rode today with wife as part of the Challenge network tracks, a fun downhill track to ride in excellent order.

Rode this track with wife on our way back to the car park. Maybe it was because we had knocked out nearly 40kms on other tracks but I wouldn't call this track fast and flowey through its length as over the years the base soil has worn down exposing a very root exposed track. It is in good order but in places quite knarly which could catch a rider out. Still challenging and enjoyable as a G3 track

Superb top section with challenging natural drops - bottom section has scary but attainable gaps jumps - later ones are less confronting than the initial ones.

Done twice, level 3 too difficult. More difficult then Arepa.

Trail Boulderdash
Should technically be a double black now because of the compulsory gap a the start. it is an easy jump and by far no the hardest feature on the track but riders should know this before riding.

The trails has really good flow, especially the smooth berms in the top section. Some of the corners in the lower section are pretty tight, but also large and well bermed. I just wish this trail was longer, it's over too quickly.

Mostly downhill, fast flowing rolling lines. Fun fun fun, for new and intermediate riders alike. Better than Yellow Brick Road itself, our 2 year old was giggling with joy the entire way down (on his front mounted "Do Little" bike seat. Can't wait to do it again.

Awesome trail, great scenery, nice and smooth not too many roots, however wouldn't really agree with the "downhill primary" label. The first 1/2 to 2/3 is uphill, and there's a relatively short downhill after that. The return trail "Yellow Brick Road Return" is much more fun, mostly downhill and flowy. We took our 2 year old on it and he was just giggling with excitement the whole way down. Definitely a great fun trail for anyone who's new to mountain biking.

What has happened?! Roots removed from the trail, now a smooth flow trail, likely a Grade 2 now! Such a shame!

the tricky rooty section has a bypass now if you don't want to tackle it, and the rocky section is much easier.
