AVOID! 06/14/22 - there’s hundreds of trees down on upper mission ridge. The first 1/4 took me an hour and then I could see it got worse farther down. Absolutely not possible.

Excellent ride -definitely one of the best in NW. Shuttle to top of Mission and enjoy 2.5 hours of mostly downhill… being careful not to catch an edge!

The trail itself is not so difficult or technical. Some rocks, few roots and no especially steep sections. But this isn’t a flow trail in the model of Raging Ridge, where you cut loose and really fly. The trail is narrow, and much of features steep drops off to the side with high consequence for a mistake. It really takes full concentration and control to get down safely. A very dry, loose surface in late August added to the challenge. Id still call it a blue trail, but the length and surface and high consequence make it one of the more difficult blue trails out there.

The problem with this road, like most other forest roads, is that the elevation grade is designed for motor vehicles and it's too steep to make an enjoyable ride for a biker. On top of that it's a gravel road, so you're losing pealing efficiency to the loose gravel.
Beware ye all who pedal.

The trail is pleasant enough int he South-North direction. A bit rocky, but a good suspension or fat tires will see you through.

Trail Wayhut Road
A murderous climb at the start, 15-20% grade on a gravel road. Get into your lowest gear and deploy your best pedaling technique - you will need every bit of advantage.

This trail is a tarpit of pain, misery, and despair. Both ends are steep and very rocky climbs towards the middle of the trail, and that middle is just a series of shorter rocky climbs and descends. It's bad enough I ended up walking most of the trail. Never again.

Trail Red Devil
Rode this in the direction mapped (south the north). It was a nice ride through the woods, but a fairly boring trail. It’s almost perfectly smooth with very few fun turns. Not worth the trip to just ride Red Devil.

I started at the upper Devils Gulch trail head because that’s where the easier climb brings you and the top of devils is very fun. My hard tail wouldn’t love upper mission

One of the most fun times I’ve had on my Mtn Bike. Very technical though and calling this a Blue is an understatement. Amazing views. Scary moments on side of cliffs and a lot of fun water. ???? On a hot summer day it’s the best. Be ready to go from Rock to Dirt to mud to sand. Also took me about 2.5 hours. Long ride.

Clear all the way to the Devils Gulch intersection. Traction good in most sections.
The rocky sections can be a challenge for the novice rider like me but are also kinda fun. Nice views but not a lot of shaded trail in the afternoon, don't forget your water.

Very hard climb with lots of pushing and deep motor cycle ruts. Better to go up devil's gulch trail.

Trail Red Devil
This trail is a great out and back for a 10 mile, 2500'ish ride. Trail stays in the woods and is well shaded and usually excellent loamy dirt - as opposed to Red Hill and Red Hill spur which are pretty loose and rocky/sandy.

I don't recommend riding up it. Too steep and sandy. But you might have to push in a couple spots on the way down too. But that just makes the sweet descent longer. Enjoy!

Trail Red Devil
The dapp scent towards Sandy creek is super flowy and my favorite in the area. You can combine the ccw Red hill spur loop with the lower Devils Gulch and Mission ridge for an epic early season route

We rode it ccw from the Devil's Gulch trailhead. I wouldn't want to ride it the other way, but I can see starting at the Sand Creek trailhead being a good option as well...the downhill into that area was one of the most fun.

I recommend parking at the Red Devil TH to begin a Devils Gulch/Mission Ridge loop. After finishing MR, ride down Mission Creek road to Sand Creek Rd and hang a left to get back to your vehicle.

Or just ride Red Devil back. It's fun both ways, but I prefer the ride from Devil's Gulch TH to Sand Creek TH.
