Fun descending although at this point there is no clear trail. Ours seemed to be the first bike tracks since the snow fell - a few walkers has preceded us. Ascent would be impossible for any normal human. Fresh snow has settled in well on top of the previous ice. Grip is plentiful and studs not necessary. The great descent makes the challenges of getting up Stove very worthwhile. A tree is down, covering the trail just short of the bottom. Location marked on map attached.

bring your climbing legs and a sense of humour/adventure. The first 2km are mostly rideable although with a surprising amount of effort. After that you'd have to be a total freak to avoid much pushing. Lots of fresh snow has settled in well over the underlying ice. The trail needs snowshoes or grooming (if that's a thing on Stove) or a tonne of traffic to widen the trail. No need for spikes. The connection over to Dem Bones is a glorious slog.
