2018 IES Jug Mountain PRO / EXPERT / SPORT

Welcome to the final stop of the 2018 Idaho Enduro Series We are excited to be closing down the season in style at Jug Mountain Ranch.

The race course will consist of 5 timed stages featuring close to 2,600ft of climbing / descending over approximately 12 miles. Each transition is approximately 580ft of ascent on the South Boundary Trail, not including short climbs within each segment.

It is the riders responsibility to know the course and the transition stages. ALL CLIMBING will take place on the "South Boundary Trail", which originates at the upper parking lot and continues on a mix of single track and double track access road, up towards Jug Mountain Lookout. Continue past the end of South Boundary Trail to the shortcut connector (mainline) to access the start of stage 1 (Vandelay).

Race Overview:

Stage 1 - Vandelay

This will be a thigh burner! Enter the pain cave on this pedally, long stage. One of the flatter stages, with a few punch climbs will be waiting for riders. There are plenty of wide open, fast sections as well! Bike handling will be key as riders face off camber corners, rock gardens, and tricky tight corners! At the completion of Stage 1, riders will transfer up rolling rock towards Stitches.

Stage 2 - Stitches

Jug Mts OG downhill track! The shortest stage of the race will be an exciting one, with plenty of optional lines to choose from. Play it safe or hit the features to make up time, the choice is yours!!! Steep rock rollers, ladders, tables will face riders along the way. Who wants to hit the famous road gap!? Riders will transition on the North Elk Hiking Trail towards the upper parking lot.
PLEASE TAKE CAUTION OF RIDERS FINISHING STAGE 5 (Doe Joe) ALL RACERS ON COURSE HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. ONLY CROSS WHEN THE TRAILS ARE CLEAR.

Stage 3 - Berm & Ernie

Idahos premier flow trail! It doesn't get much better than this! This is a proper flow trail with awesome berms, rock gardens, pump sections and jumps. It opens up towards the bottom, how fast can you fly through the forest and rally that last berm before the finish line??? Riders are welcome to grab a quick drink in the parking lot before heading back up the south boundary transition.

Stage 4 - Double Shot > Exfoliator

The top part of the trail features technical rock gardens and a few rock drops. Can you boost the big boulder or you play it safe with the roll down? Riders will proceed in to the woods through a few more rock gardens before the trail really opens up and you can feeeeel the need for speed! Open it up and rally the berms before the end of upper Double Shot. Riders will make a hard LEFT HAND TURN on the mid mountain single track and pedal hard towards the start of Exfoliator trail. The crowd will be out in force to watch riders tackle this classic freeride trail with doubles, drops, berms and the famous log jump! Please take caution timing out on this stage and the road is VERY loose!

Stage 5 - Doe Joe to Clubhouse

Riders will start on the brand new Doe Joe flow trail, featuring tight berms and short pedally sections. Plenty of turns are to be had on this upper section! There are also some optional lines on this trail, which line is faster? At the end of Doe Joe, riders will continue with a slight right hand turn on to the Elk Clubhouse connector trail. Please be on the lookout for the sharp UPHILL left hand turn directing riders up to the clubhouse. Quick shift in to some low gears and hammer up that hill to the finish line!! You made it!
