Although this is a permitted event, trails are open to the general public. Riders must be under control at all times.

The 2018 Helenduro is the 10th anniversary of one of North America's longest-running enduro races. We wanted to make this one special, so it's a mix of classic Helenduro stages and local favorites that have never been raced before.

This year's race crosses the South Hills over six stages, and ends with a classic view of downtown Helena as you race towards post-ride refreshment at Karmadillos Southwest Cafe.

Stage 1: Wide open rocky gnar on Hogsback Trail, across Backside Trail to Prairie Trail, where you'll need to be on your A game to thread the tight trees. Finish up by descending Swaney Trail and Direttissima Trail.

Stage 2: Helena's classic Show-Me-The-Horse Trail. Not much more to add.

Stage 3: Descend north from Wakina Sky meadow via Wakina Sky Trail and Evan's Trail. Watch out for Evan's - it's sneaky at race speed.

Stage 4: Another Helena classic: Rent Money Trail down to Davis Gulch via Rodney Ridge Trail.

Stage 5: This is another long one - off the top of Mount Ascension via 2006 Trail, Ridge Rider Trail, and Little Moab Trail. Little Moab is a local's favorite with some choose-your-own-adventure lines across the bedrock.

Stage 6: Bring it home in full view of the finish on the Acropolis Crest Trails. Watch out for tight turns that sneak up on you in a hurry.

Overall great trail. Like so many other trails here though, it would be nice to not spend so much time maching straight down the fall line, riding the brakes, eating up all that vertical you just earned. Some more effective use of natural features, more supported turns and some opportunities for air would make this trail epic.

Trail Evan's Trail
Not to be negative, but it is almost like this trail builder was trying to frustrate anyone who wants to ride a bike on this trail. It is filled with a large number of very tight, literally 180 degree, unsupported switchbacks. These are loads of fun if your bike skills have not progressed since 1992. Otherwise, it is a bit annoying after riding that sweet ridge that features drops and cool views.

Trail Evan's Trail
OOOPS! This above review was meant for Lower Stairway to Heaven, please disregard. This trail, Evan's, is a good trail for biking and fun.

Its a good trail and all but the best in Montana... basically all the downhill parts of the Bangtail Divide trail were much better than this trail.

Always fun, nothing too technical to be worried about, rather docile, and very beautiful!

If you like trails that kick your butt, then this is a great beginner trail.

One of the funnest trails in the South Hills area. Fast, flowing, trees, great ride down. Killer ride up.

Call me a sally, but I hate this trail. The bottom is great, but the top is graded terribly. As a downhill, it would be great, but as an up hill it's just too steep. Especially if you want to call this a blue.

Trail Evan's Trail
I rode this from the ridge down the south/east side of the trail. THIS is how trail should be built. Wonderful job to Evan I guess. Fast and fun, with great line of sight for all sharp corners.
