We’ll kick off Stage 2 in Golden by showcasing the Mtn. Shadows trail network. The stage starts in the Town Centre at Spirit Square, and after some road climbing to spread the group out, riders will be treated to the Schacher Trail, a brand new machine built singletrack climb up the slopes of Mount 7. New this year, the Schacher Trail has been extended higher up the slopes of Mount 7 showcasing more of this legendary biking mountain

From there, it’s onto the Mount 7 DH trail for the timed descent, a fast and steep bomb down to the main Mountain Shadows network. Be sure to hone your skills for this one as we’ll be featuring technical rocky trails like Cliff Side and Rock About. We’ll end the day back in Golden with a finish in Spirit Square on the banks of the Kicking Horse River.

All routes are subject to change at any time to allow for quality control, the safety of the riders and wildlife.

easily be done on a hardtail not sure why type of bike is specified in description - which breaks down of trail sections nicely.
There are a lot of steps/root drops on the way down though; riders new to blue trails should be aware of and comfortable with.

Huge shout out to the builders off this trail. Great but long climb. Even a couple of skinnys to do on the way up. No one coming down or up on a Saturday morning. Then great downhill from 10k

Beautifully built trail with lots of little hidden hits , doubles, and small tables. This would be one of my favourite blue trails around IF it wasn’t a popular climbing trail a well. If you ride it downhill responsibly (I.e expect to find someone riding uphill around the many fast blind corners or on the other side of the double) it is hard to really enjoy yourself thinking that you might have a head-on. Some parts of the trail have really good sight lines and they alllow you to relax and enjoy the features at speed. Please please please consider making this a DH trail only. Alternatively, consider allowing it to be uphill only on odd days and downhill on even days. Such a good trail that it is a bummer it’s current two-direction status compromises its awesomeness for uphill and downhill riders

Good point to look out for uphill traffic. This trail was designed to provide an uphill that's not the road for Mount 7, so it should definitely be an uphill, if anything. It's not so steep or fast that you shouldn't be able to see oncoming riders. Make sure to make lots of noise coming down on the steeper, lower section.

Awesome trail. Elevation is wrong though. It's just under 1000m elevation gain, not 1600.

I was scratching my head about the 1625m of elevation gain as well. I guess if you're doing Strava, you'd want that but will be disappointed that the total elevation from top to bottom is only 956m. The write-up for this trail as a climbing trail states that there's 1625m elevation gain and 664m elevation loss as you climb to the top of Mt 7. So, doing the math by subtracting the losses from the gains, it works out to 961m net gain, which is in the ball park.

Excellent intermediate downhill/cross country ride starting with amazing views from the top of mount 7. This trail has endless switchback/berm corners. Super fun way to experience Mount 7 for the first time on a trail that is not intimidating (except perhaps the first 5 right hand turns where you are somewhat exposed on a fairly steep section). Everything is walkable!

Definitely not a DH specific trail. Not much fun on a DH bike.
