Riding these conditions can be very dangerous and serious injury could occur. Medical assistance will take some time to get to any seriously injured person. Do not attempt this ride if you do not accept personal responsibly for yourself.

Just off the main loop riders can pick up the Satan's Kingdom 2.3 mile Extension. This is not an arrowed route so you need to be able to navigate on your own.

This extension starts with some easy intermediate single track that takes you to Hartford Street. Once you cross Hartford Street, you are in Satan's Kingdom. The first 50' of trail is a tough ledge climb that many good riders have to hike. Following the trail another 50' or so, the trail splits just after a tight squeeze between a rock and a tree. The preferred direction is counter clockwise and starts out with a small roller.

The singletrack trails are easy to follow and all connect different ledge sections. When the trail disappears, you generally need to get up on the ledge. Satan's Kingdom does not have B lines so please do not make them. Hike the trails you can't ride with your bike please.

This is a counter-clockwise loop so generally turn to your left at any intersections. There is one exception at a blue blazed trail that simply shortens the entire loop. Generally we try to avoid this trail.

Once you complete the loop, you should recognize your starting point. Reverse your direction back on the easy intermediate trail and pick up the main arrowed loop back in Hale Reservation.

Although 2.3 miles, it will feel much longer and may take up to an hour to complete.

Overall in pretty good shape. Some minor blowdowns and debris, but nothing too bad. Trail overall could use some extra love, and the remaining unmapped trails need to be put onto the map, to avoid confusion and wrong turns.
