STOP climbing Waterworks, it's dangerous and irresponsible. Go around like everyone else.

Hey all...started mtn biking w 12 yr old and have done many of the easy to moderate trails in so OC and saw this trail and we'd like to try it but were wondering where you guys park to get to Waterworks? Taco Bell parking entrance in back parking area or somewhere else and ride to entry on Antonio? Thx

Park at Santa Margarita Water District. It is allowed and most people park there.

Trail Waterworks
I would say it's more of a blue trail. Some sections are ez but wouldn't recommend if you're going with someone who is new to mtn biking. I loved it though!

Fairly recent trail work . Berms are solid right now and no signs of sand .

Been my favorite trail from my very first day riding. In my novice opinion, I like it more than Lizard(fun flowy trail) in Laguna because it's a great payoff that doesn't take a brutal climb to get to. I like to run loops up escalator and down waterworks and repeat.

Complete reroute in the top due to legal issues. Still a very fun trail and the reroute at the top was done by professionals

Starting at Antonio the uphill is kinda steep but short. Loose rocks on the climb make it a little more challenging. Turns into flat horse trail once you pass the Coto gate but it's more fun than riding the street.

Pretty wet on Jan 9, 2019. Several crossings with rushing water, one of which required a dismount and walk carrying the bike.

Keep it simple. Keep it downhill. Climb the boring stuff, descend the fun stuff. It’s within OC Parks jurisdiction, so no eBikes are permitted.

Why would you want to climb this l? Uphill is the way to go on this trail. Sure you could climb it, but with the other single tracks in the area that all lead to the same spot, this one is typically used for hauling butt downhill. If you do climb it, please don’t be wearing earbuds and blasting your jams. Surely someone will be bearing down on you
