This Crown Jewel of Dupont Mountain Biking starts and ends at the Corn Mill Shoals Parking area. Directly across the paved road (Cascade Lake Road) you will find the trail's entrance.
Get on Corn Mill Shoals Rd and take your second right onto Burnt Mountain and do this great loop in a clockwise fashion so you can enjoy some of the best downhill sections in the Dupont State Forest.
Once you get to the bottom you will be taking a right on Little River Trail which follows The Little River funny enough Go past the Cedar Rock trailhead on your left and climb up the easier way (hahahaha) to where Big Rock and Cedar Rock intersect. Be sure you have your camera ready, the views all along the slick rock are amazing up and down.
After a little snack follow Big Rock Down being very careful of ledgy drops and hikers (this section is heavily travelled on the weekends.)
Once you have completed the descent you will be back on Corn Mill Shoals Rd again. Take a Right and then another onto Longside Trail following the left to Twixt Trail. From here you will cross the main road and get on a dirt climb called Rock Quarry Road. Take this to the tippy top and go left on a double track called Buck Ridge Road. At the very top of that you will begin your sweet sweet descent back to the parking lot down Micajah Trail and straight on down to Wilkie Trail, ending at the road. A quick head turn to the left will reveal the parking area.

If crossing river, I'd go to the furthest right you can. Not gonna lie, it's very slippery and a bit nerve racking to cross. Crossed it this past weekend. On the right side the rock has a slight upslope you can push against the current very slightly. Probably easier if you keep your shoes on but I'm not a fan of biking with 10lbs 5 10s for the rest of the day

Try this next time: take off your shoes and walk across in your socks...the socks really do a good job of sticking to the rocks. I always bring another pair of socks and change them out after crossing. Just squeeze out the wet pair and stick them in your pack.

Trail Wilkie Trail
Nothing special but fun out and back trail. Some chunky sections at the beginning and end of it.

Have to admit I walked the decent at the end. Top Fuel with 100mm of travel and steep ht didn't give me much confidence.

Basically, a dead end not specified as a dead end. No bridge over fast-flowing creek over slupery rocks.

What a wonderful slabby trail, including the climb. Hopefully a few more steep slab lines can find their way onto the trail system. This felt like a little taste of squamish in NC!

This trail if ridden CCW is a blast to climb. It's tech, smooth and doable. Also if it's a little wet out the rock stays grippy! The downhill is fun and the top is super cool.

This is one of my favorite trails. From the natural and rugged beauty to the rock drops (most with ride-arounds) to a few rocks you can jump/double into step-downs. Enjoy!

This is an amazing trail. I rode it as an out and back. It’s really fun trying to make it up the rock features, and bombing back down is even better. This is a must-ride in the area.

Awesome trail! Compared to the rest of DuPont I experienced, this starts off pretty flowy but then descends into a taste of chunky gnar.

Just did this trail twice today and enjoyed it very much, the climb is reasonable and the short downhill is fun and challenging but I’d say a experienced MTB rider should have no issues with it.
