The bridge on dreamweaver has been destroyed by a fallen tree. This happened around Nov 8 or 9 2022. You can get around but it’s a hike-a-bike.

I agree the direction/signage is hard to follow. Big thanks to all the comments above warning me to avoid turning down St. George's by mistake (success!). Trail was dry and root sections were fairly exposed. I'd say it's a dark blue with some black sections.

Rode this west to east after exiting Expresso and holy crap this trail has some technical and challenging sections! Although there are some traversing sections on this trail that are blue in difficulty overall it's a black, a pretty difficult black at that. It's fun and challenging but if you are an intermediate rider this trail will eat you alive and you'll probably be walking a chunk of it.

You got it, it's the blackest blue trail on the shore! All I can say is you should have seen it 6 years ago. A few thousand hours over the last six years have gone into fixing up this section of trail. We haven't eliminated the gnar but there are some relatively smooth lines (albeit about 4" wide) through the rougher sections. This trail definitely helps folks progress!

This my be the holy grail of downhill fun technical trails as far as I’m concerned. It’s a trek to the top but god is it fun to ride down. Such a good time with moments of complete fear. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you north shore!

A bit of a surprise, a fun surprise, but after a pretty mellow traverse from expresso the trail changes it’s vibe quite drastically! Be prepared to ride through like 10 rock gardens. Very well put together rock gardens, but somewhat twisty rock gardens nonetheless. Helps to know what to expect! That being said still a great way to get back to the parking lot.

Ridden many times...decided to finally post a comment lol. I really only use BP to ride back out to the Upper Parking Lot and the final descent once you get past Big Stupid is no joke. You can create and carry some ridiculously fun speed down here. Be careful though, as hikers regularly use BP, both ways. You CAN get down the final descent in about 1:30, but your hands will not like it.

I’m sure it’s a decent trail once you know where you’re going but there’s about 100 other trails crossing through with hardly any signs and I don’t think it’s good enough of a trail to ride it more than once.

Amazing entry level black, the best flow trail on the Shore by far (sorry Bobsled). I would consider it slightly easier than Floppy just becuase it's a bit more flowy and faster for intermediates, and definitely worth the climb. I always finish my day riding Expresso during golden hour.

Really amazing trail. I Ben in the wet there is still lots of grip.
A note to fast riders, don’t try passing slower riders while they are moving through techy/rocky steep turns. It ruins the experience when you bail because someone decides to blow by you. Just give a shout and pass when safe to do so!! We are all there to have fun. Keep those maneuvers for a race day!

A decent but challenging traverse trail back from Espresso. Some of the steeps could be made a bit more ridable. The large rock gardens will be dangerous for many riders if it's wet. Only worth riding west to east.

If folks are allowed to two-way king of the shore and roadside attraction, I don’t see the issue in making this relatively small section also two-way. May as well be consistent. Especially when many black and double blacks are labeled as two-way on Trailforks. Laf

Hi,
This trail was built as an uphill only, the construction of up only trails differs from two way or down hill trails. They are simply not designed to handle the downhill use, this is the main reason for the signage. The corners and sign lines are the major differences. I acknowledge that this is the more viable exit for many, please see Brent' s reply. I hope this helps.

the ‘ascent only’ sign at the top of Griffen (Uphill) trail is actually not visible if you are descending from Lower Griffen/watertower exit. If the sign were rotated to the side of the post that’s visible while descending, that might help with wrong-wayers. (We ran into a group of beginner downriders too).

Hi,
yes, it's only visible from the Imonator entrance off the BP. Up to this point I have been remiss to move the signs location as many novice, children and families use the trail to get back to McNair. The Baden Powell exit is not an easy way out for them as it is quite rough.

Signs to suggest to exit by the Water towers, this however is not as "fun" as riding a trail back to the road.

What really needs to happen is some maintenance on the BP, I've looked at it but the project is beyond what I can handle!

Rode this trail for the first time today and I was surprised how fun it was. There was some fresh dirt and it was super smooth, fast and flowy. The trail head still says double black but its more of a blue/black. There are a couple techy parts but they are pretty tame, there is a really fun wooden roll down that is kinda steep that is maybe black but its optional (just take a right after the smaller wood roll down and you can take a way around). Not easy like bobsled but not a advanced trail either.

If you can ride expresso you can 100% ride this and I personally think its an awesome way to end a run down expresso and lower expresso (or any other trail for that matter) and is 100% worth the small uphill to get to it from the bottom of lower expresso.

Agree with the comments here -- this is by far the blackest blue trail anywhere on the North Shore. It tends to get pretty beaten up as well, and can get super-gnarly. There are several corners on the downhill section going East towards Mtn Highway (from Espresso / Pipeline, etc.), that are essentially steep rock gardens, and pretty slippery especially when they're wet. Not to mention the beginning of the downhill section... the mandatory steep ladder onto steep rock garden, with a slight left turn at the bottom, would be pretty intimidating, even for a black trail.

Fantastic trail. I would rate it as blue though, there's nothing black about it

I think it's the wooden roll at the end and the optional elevated skinny that tips it into black territory when looking at standards. But would agree it's a blue for the rest.

Accidentally turned down onto St George's - no signage preventing it - huge waste of elevation. Be sure to a stay left after crossing the BP

Trail Expresso
Rode the trail a couple days ago for the first time. Although its rated blue on trail forks there are some harder sections and some decent drops, this may partly be because the trail has gotten a bit beaten up from winter and all the traffic it receives but with the current virus situation there may not be much trail maintenance for a while so keep that in mind if your expecting something really blue your first time down the trail. Still a really fun trail and great entry level black diamond, if you can handle floppy bunny(the more techy parts and bridges not the optional jumps) and you want to step it up I would recommend it, the climb is long in comparison but its a fun trail with the hardest features optional so you can work your way up to them, also the hardest non-optional parts are pretty easy to walk and there are only a couple.

All around awesome entry level black trail and im exited to ride it again in the next couple of days!

Similar to many of the comments above I took this trail as a connector from Expresso. This trail did surprise me as due to the rock paths they have created (I think for hikers) it is actually pretty challenging, definitely harder than Expresso in my view.

Rode this trail after trying Expresso the 2nd time. Was very technical for me but was really fun. Walked most of the uphill part and some sketchy descent. You just have to be mindful since a lot of hikers are on this trail as well. Will definitely try again this weekend after pipeline or expresso.

This is NOT a blue trail; it should be marked as black diamond. I ride blue trails almost exclusively with couple black ones thrown in, and this one is by far the hardest I've done. There are some "black" trail in Squamish and Seymour that are easier than this one.

Hi Guys, I was riding Saturday around 4:00 and saw couple of guys on eBikes riding cross country through the woods (maybe crossing between Crippler and ESpresso)...
Unfortunately I did not manage to talk to them - but if anybody knows who they were or sees them again, please highlite that riding off trails with ebikes especially will cause damage to our sport and the fantastic location on the northshore.

btw. I am a eMTB rider as well... and there is more then enough fun on the perfect existing trails!

Please respect and share this attitude!!!!

Took the trail to go back to the parking lot after Espresso and I can safely say that this trail is significantly harder. Super steep rocky climbs lead to super steep rocky descents. The descents are really fun though.

Just a heads up all. There’s a significant amount of broken glass spread out on Kirkford beginning approx 20 feet after the initial wood roll-in. I’d like to think it wasn’t intentional but it came in a variety of colours and spread quite neatly.
