Resent gold dirt work has really improved the trail. Running best it’s been in years. Thanks to Sarah, Markus, and Thomas for their hard work.

A little narrow in spots on my modern trail limo but once you get a feel for it the trail flows beautifully. Boardwalks, teeters, small to medium rock faces, and creative stone work. A well preserved piece of shore history, and one of my all time favourite trails.

This trail had some REALLy tight berms that felt like they were dug into the ground

As above have mentioned great amount of effort with rock armouring to make this a true all weather trail credit to the builders, I favour pile of rocks for more natural rooty tech however

How this is still rated a black diamond is beyond me. The endless switchbacks are a waste of good vertical that the old trail had in spades.

Really amazing trail. I Ben in the wet there is still lots of grip.
A note to fast riders, don’t try passing slower riders while they are moving through techy/rocky steep turns. It ruins the experience when you bail because someone decides to blow by you. Just give a shout and pass when safe to do so!! We are all there to have fun. Keep those maneuvers for a race day!

I feel like some of these comments are for lower digger (below st Mary’s), which is now definitely flow (like expresso. Upper digger (between Basel powel and st Mary’s) is still north shore natural features. Looks like there are some decomishioned man made features but it’s mostly natural anyway. Pretty bumpy, steep in parts. Definitely not fast flow - that’s lower digger.

Great blue tech trail, if you have done trails like bobsled and your wondering what some rocks and roots feel like I would recommend this trail as its kinda XC and not too steep but still lots of fun. Just be weary of going to middle griffen as it isnt in that good of condition now a days and has some very tight corners and even a non-roll drop(which you dont usually see on blue trails but is clearly indicated by the huge amount of scrape marks from people's gears and pedals). I would recommend taking a right and going down king of the shore if you are a more beginner rider.

It is the NSMBA that is doing this, not the DNV. In reference to Upper Digger apparently they are going to make it a flow line (as if Fromme needs more) to placate to the "new riders" that are invading the hill with few becoming NSMBA members. You would think the NSMBA would wise up to the fact that if their membership was not growing with all they have done so far how it is going to with more dumbed down flow. I personally am tired beyond fed up with the obvious mandate for Fromme, but the NSMBA board is voted in, so there is a way to change it.....

the trail description on this trail could not be further from the truth...there are zero man made ttf's left on this trail. I am not judging whether there should be or not but the description is wrong.

Just a heads up all. There’s a significant amount of broken glass spread out on Kirkford beginning approx 20 feet after the initial wood roll-in. I’d like to think it wasn’t intentional but it came in a variety of colours and spread quite neatly.

Trail Digger
I went down the bottom half of this trail today and saw the "new work". Typical bermed, flow low litigious mandate...exactly what Digger is not. And you know where this is going: the new line will be established and the old school line, instead of being preserved as an option, will be decommissioned. Again, another piece of old school tech gone. And it is coming; they have already covered over some of the lowest parts. Whats worse, if you go to Pink Starfish (pushed up it to see) they felled live trees to block the lines. I thought falling live trees was completely verboten. Apparently not. And if you really look at it, I bet Lower Digger and Boundary will be the next to go since they don't follow a mandate of low risk trails. I admit I prefer my trails a bit more techy/rocky/tough but to slowly eliminate them and/or dumb them down is not only systemic but wrong on so many levels.

And really, this is all a NSMBA issue since they decide what gets work and what type of work. And on this, I don't agree at all. Each has their reasons I guess. But regardless, Digger's demise is coming and again, once gone, there is no getting it back. I just don't agree with why but I understand it even it has no basis on fact.

Chunder to you is old school tech gnar to me. Went down it today on a new bike, and it was too much for the bike I had but I have gone down this trail for years and love the roughness of it. There is sad lack of it on Fromme anymore; and I agree you might not like the NSMBA and try to throw them under the bus any chance you get but if you are going to at least pick the trails they have really screwed up, or, allowed to die due to a mandate of low risk riding and minimal litigiousness by the DNV. Hence Seventh, Expresso, Crinkum et al... Personally if you can't ride it, don't do it. No harm there.

Pete you and I are going to have to (respectfully) agree to disagree with respect to this trail.

You are definitely the asymptote in the bell curve.

And I don't despise the NSMBA for what they did to trails. My lack of trust is due to their encouragement of harassment, misogyny and hypocrisy

Can't agree more! If risk is an issue, don't ride trails like this (the ones that may exist still that is!). Given that many riders can't even get onto the skinny features, there is probably less risk on a trail like Digger compared to newer flow trails - I mean, I can go flat out on Lower Espresso, and if I stay off the brakes, some fun, stupid speed can be had. At top speed I almost flew off the trail one day. Whereas on a technical trail like Digger, you were required to go at a slow, calculated speed,...with extra focus. If anything I am more careful and less likely to bail on a trail like the old Digger, bc I know my skill level and the focus required. Missing the old school trails.... www.pinkbike.com/video/337553

Sure. Doesn’t matter to me dude. I’m just saying it’s a great effort they did to turn this into a climbing trail. It is seriously kickass and a great xc climb option on fromme. Nobody cares that it used to be a DH trail - there are millions of better ones. People don’t ride this down anymore so your comment just seems like you’re tryig to undermine the work to turn this into a climb trail.
