This is a suggested out-and-back route for Raptor Ridge that includes a couple other fun trails, Highland Valley and Hokey Pokey. For a longer ride, this route can be combined with other trails around Lake Hodges. Or keep going east in San Pasqual Valley.

The routing is recommended because it hits Hokey Pokey north-to-south which is more fun for the descent. It can also be ridden south-to-north, but the southern side climb is fairly steep. Take the climb on the way out for more challenge and avoid riding on Highland Valley Rd. Beginner riders should probably skip Hokey Pokey. Also note it crosses private land.

The route also includes the odd but convenient section of the Old Coach Trail that crosses through the nursery. It seems like you're trespassing, but it's actually a designated trail.

Beginners can use the very mild Mule Hill Trail instead of Highland Valley and Hokey Pokey. Highland Valley should be good for most beginners, and sections of Hokey Pokey could be walked by beginners.

Expect to share with hikers and trail runners.
