Trail Steam Donkey
Bottom line: problem with this "trail" is it is just a connecting jeep road with two or three turns with berms burned into shoulder. Signage is indeed mostly nonexistent in Jackson Demo. Giving forest service roads colorful trail-like names adds to the confusion. I was expecting far more single-track in the loop I rode. Nothing off of Steam Donkey were anything I'd pedal back for.

Trail Big Tree
The “big tree” is right off the trail where steam donkey connects to this one. There’s a sign, little trail off to the southeast you can walk or ride down and see, well, a big tree. I mean all the trees are big here but this one is T H I C C . Also, this trail is gradual and flowy single track carved into side of hills back to the forest floor, would recommend. Wouldn’t be horrible going up either.

Trail Steam Donkey
It connects eagles roost and big tree, sort of boring rolling road like terrain in my opinion. It’s necessary to go on if you want to enjoy the downs or suffer up the single track on the two other trails this connects to

Easy both ways. Works as a good connector to the other stuff. Easy to carry speed

Trail Confusion
Not much climbing either way, goes good both directions. Fun single track.

Trail Gas Cap
Yes it’s fun. I like it. Try to hit it at least every other ride here, either direction, although it’s more fun south to north due to the elevation

Connects well with endo and oh no. Going down of course. This trail tho you could make work going up, not too steep.

This is an easy trail that parallels the dirt access road. It is single track and gets a lot of use in both directions. It is not clear why it is rated blue. It should be green. In any case, beats riding on the dirt road.

A Super fun flowy downhill that you can lap easily with the fire road access. Super fun at flowy up top, then the grade mellows out and is a bit pedaly at the end.

Well worth it!

First time on this trail. Signage is not the best. For example, a sign at the intersection of what I now believe to be Steam Donkey trail and Eagles Roost trails calls Eagle Roost trail "Old Jeep Trail to Camp 2" and indicates that Steam Donkey trail continues to the north. I continued to the north expecting to find Eagles Roost trail and quickly got lost. This is more of an old logging road than a trail, but still nice overall.

Signage in general is not great in Jackson Demo Forest. After a good deal of riding and exploration this becomes part of the places "charm", but it makes some of the first rides a bit of an adventure. It may sound old school but there's a great book of trail maps (www.trailforks.com/localproducts/61) that I found super helpful in getting a handle on the trails. Your other option is frequent GPS checking (if it works in the thick forest cover) and a lot of back tracking while using the online maps.
