This is a self-supported grassroots event. No entry fee, no prizes, no aid stations. Simply you, your bike on the trail under your own power.

This is the kickoff event to the AES race calendar. The route is typically ridden in the CCW direction. There's a short neutral rollout until the turn-off from Willow Springs Rd. A 45 minute time bonus is given for those who scramble to the top of Antelope Peak (Selfie time), There's also a possible 60 minute time bonus for anyone who completes a lap on the 24HitOP course near the finish.

Detailed Description
AES: Antelope Peak Challenge (Short) is a 61 mile popular expert race route located near Fortified Peak Arizona. This mountain bike only route can be used both directions and has a hard overall physical rating. This route includes 4 trails. This route climbs 5,641 ft with a max elevation of 4,356 ft then descends -5,638 ft.

Excellent trail. Met a Park Ranger and Trail Steward along the way- nicest people. Very rideable blue, lots of flowy sections. bring more water then you think to bring.
