There are alternate lines... locals know the real tech spots or just session it to find them!

Didn’t get a chance to ride this before the reroute, but can confirm that the bottom half is more fun!

The 2021 reroute has completely changed the nature of a classic mid-atlantic descent. The new reroute has an inconsistent flow that jumps back and forth from slightly techy rock gardens to fast sections. This back and forth is not well thought out and leads to an uninspiring trail compared to the classic that it once was. Thankfully the lower portion of the trail has been left untouched.

I rode the rerouted trail 9 yesterday (5/14/21). It is a solid technical blue. There are a number rock gardens are laid out well. The last 1/2 miles is a nice fast single track rip. Can only imagine it will improve as it gets ridden in.

Significant trail maintenance completed by SAMBA 10/10/20. New switchbacks replace some sections where poor drainage led to erosion, chutes. Better visibility, ample opportunity to spot hikers and plan accordingly. Couple new (optional) drops. Fun trail to go down... more tractable to go up, now, too.

Some steep sections (steeper than it would seem from the videos); fun route down the mountain. Like the previous commenter mentions, there are some features and terrain but the bigger stuff can be avoided.

This is a cool track, but it’s not quite a black diamond. I only say this because I want folks to ride it and not be discouraged. The two drops are big features but they are optional and at the very end. Until then it’s only steep. Really fun tho

black diamond was before the reroute; agree it could be changed to blue (was more fun before reroute)

Make a little extra difficult going up T11 not T10, and parking at Rt. 72 puts T15 at end of ride.

One of the best spots to bomb downhill. If you like downhill this trail is highly recommended! Not too technical but you can get some serious speed if you want to.
