This 50 mile ride will take you on all of the trails of the Allegrippis Trail System at Raystown Lake. Since it is a stacked loop system you will need to repeat some trails or do an out and back to ride all of the trails.

For a shorter version of approximately 30 miles, marked by **, you can do just the north trails. This starts at about mile 13 of the description beginning and ending at the Bakers Hollow Road parking.

With the exception of a rock garden on Stony Trail, all of the trails here are fast, smooth and flowy with intermittent views of the lake. Since all of the trails have a similar quality the following will be a turn by turn description with details on individual trails only when it varies from that.

This rides starts at the paved Visitors Center parking lot which is across the road from the Skills Park. By starting here you can use the facilities at the visitors center or add on a few laps at the Skills Park when you finish your ride. You could also start at the Bakers Hollow parking lot. If you do, I would suggest riding Stony Trail first to do all of the south trails, with an out and back on the Vee Cee Trail, to play at the Skills Park and check out the visitors center. You could then ride back up Stony Trail to continue the ride, as described, on the North Trails.

Here is the ride starting at the Visitors Center:

Cross the road from the Visitors Center and start your ride on Vee Cee Trail.

In 1 mile make a sharp left on Dark Hollow.

Cross a wooden bridge and at the top of a climb go straight/right on Shade.

While on Shade look for a left on Tap Handle. You will do an out and back on this to Barrel Bay. After the out and back turn left again on Shade and continue to Allegheny.

After 1 mile total on Shade make a right on Allegheny.

In 4.4 miles go straight /left on Dirt Surfer for 0.4 mile. Turn around at the Allegheny/Shade intersection and complete the out and back on Dirt Surfer by making a Left on Barrel Bay.

In 2.7 miles make a sharp right on Dark Hollow and after a climb bear left to stay on Dark Hollow for a total of 0.9 miles to cross Seven Points Road and go straight on Stony.

In 2.6 miles you will enter the Bakers Hollow parking lot. At the far end of the parking lot go straight on Buck.

** The shorter 30 mile north trails only version STARTS here

In 0.6 miles make a right on Fawn.

In 1.6 miles cross Susquehannock Road and go straight on Sleek Dog.

After a fun, twisty and mostly downhill 2.4 miles make a left on Switch.

Go 0.5 miles of switchback climbs to a right on Sleek Dog and cross the paved road.

Bear right on Fawn and an almost immediate right on Osprey. (The next section of Osprey and Hydro will give you the longest section of downhill in this trail system).

Go 1.2 miles on Osprey and do a gentle right on Hydro (Not the sharp right on Eagle).

After a 2.1 mile loop on Hydro that finishes with a climb, make a left on Eagle.

In 2.6 miles make a right on Switch.

Repeat the 0.5 mile climb on Switch, cross the road to the right on Fawn and right on Osprey.

Again do the downhill on Osprey (trust me you won’t mind the repeat).

Part way down Osprey make a sharp left on Sidewinder.

In 0.9 miles make a left on Ray’s Revenge.

After a short steep climb on Ray’s make a right on Berry Patch.

Ride 1.7 miles and take a spectacular view of the lake. There is a bench here so this is a good place to refuel.

Make a right on Ray’s Revenge. Ray’s is the longest trail at Raystown and is benchcut on a steep hillside. You should watch your speed here since the turns come up quickly and it is easy to get in the air and out of control (in other words “ride good or eat wood”).

In 4.7 miles you will go straight on Loco Motive.

In 1.1 miles go right on Red Legs and in a short distance a straight/right on Ridge to start an out and back on Ridge.

In 1.1 miles you will be at the lookout that is the intersection of Berry Patch and Ray’s Revenge.

Turn around and finish the 1.1 mile out and back on Ridge by keeping up your speed and staying straight on Grippis.

In 0.8 miles make a left on Red Legs.

Ride 1.7 miles on Red Legs and then make a sharp left on Grippis.

You will not mind redoing the fast downhill on Grippis for 0.8 miles before maintaining your speed and staying straight on Allie.

In 0.9 miles and a short grunt climb at the end of Allie make a left on Fawn.

In 1.6 miles make a right on Doe.

Go 1.4 miles and make a left on Buck.

In 0.6 miles you will be back at the Bakers Hollow parking lot.

** The shorter 30 mile north trails only version ENDS here

Go straight through the parking lot and make a left on Stony.

Stony is 70% downhill in this direction for 2.6 miles (with the notable exception of the uphill through the rock garden).

Cross over Seven Points Road and go straight on Dark Hollow. In 0.9 miles continue straight/left on Vee Cee Trail.

In 1 mile you will be back at the Visitors Center parking lot. Just before crossing the road to get there the Skills Park will be on your right. Play around here for a while with whatever energy you have left.

Note: With the laps at the Skill Park you will have around 50 miles if you are using a cyclometer. With a GPS you will be short 2 miles to 6 miles. Unless you have a wheel pickup for your GPS your miles will never be accurate. A perfectly calibrated cyclometer will give you exact mileage.
