High Point

Ascent through airy larch woods into the mystic Val Mora: a heavenly high valley, one of the most stunning in Switzerland. A Canadian wilderness seems close enough to touch. Stony trail down into Italy, lovely route alongside shimmering lakes.
It takes hard work to enjoy the beauties of nature. This is especially true for Val Mora. A gravel road, steep at times, climbs 600 meters up to the entrance of this serene high mountain valley.

A slightly sloping trail subsequently heads in the direction of Italy with an amazing backdrop to enjoy. The closer you get to the national border, the narrower the trail becomes. Finally, it turns into a smooth, flowing single trail leading to Passo di Fraèle where the second ascent of the day begins, the one to Passo di Valle Alpisella. It climbs 350 meters in altitude until the fast downhill run down to the shores of Lago di Livigno starts.

It is tempting to let the bike fly on the well-developed trail, followed by a leisurely cruise on the last section to Livigno while breathing in the charms of the Italian culture here. And when you savour a tasty pizza for dinner, it becomes perfectly clear that today’s destination of the Alpine Bike route is located in Italy.
