Really amazing forest and solitude. A few nice fun sections of trail if done south to north. Worth doing once if you're really curious. But otherwise, I'm not keen on adding another 1,000 feet of climbing for not much of a payoff.

The surface and grade of this road is close to perfect. Some steep pitches (10-11%) but probably more around 7-8% overall. Leaving comment on the elevation gain- mine was quite a bit lower. Somewhere closer to 2300-2500ft gain to intersection of Lower Alpine.

As rides up go, this gravel road is one of the best. About as close as you can get to pavement on gravel. Very steady incline throughout.

As of today this road is covered in snow near milepost 5. I hiked to MP 6.5ish pushing my bike and it just got deeper. Need a few more weeks

One snow patch to walk through and a few mud holes. Also, I counted 5 trees down, all fairly easy to get over. It was still a fun add-on to the main trail!
