English description fra Visit Norway translated:
This tour follows the historic railway line between Åmli and Treungen.

The railway ran from Arendal to Treungen, and was first called Arendal - Aamlibanen, then Tveitsundbanen and in 1926 Treungenbanen. The track was completed up to Treungen in 1913, and was closed in 1967.

Ore, timber and passengers were transported on the route, and almost all colonial and manufactured goods came with the train. Of the local produce, live animals, butchery, hides, honey and berries were sent by rail.

Along the cycle route, you will see many beautiful cultural relics from the railway operation and from timber floating along the Nidelva. Look for stone walls, reed towers, beautiful bridges and stately station buildings.

The buildings are privately owned, so please be considerate.

The nature is beautiful with rivers, water, rocky outcrops and forests.

The cycle path has little elevation, and mostly runs on its own route without car traffic.

There are several great bathing spots on the trip. You will find cafes, shops and places to stay in both Åmli and Treungen.

The cycle tour is suitable for cyclists of all ages.

Free bus during the autumn holidays

Farte runs a local bus with a bicycle trailer free of charge for anyone who wants to cycle this way.

Gratis buss i høstferien!

Farte kjører lokalbuss med sykkelhenger gratis for alle som vil sykle denne veien.
