9. Aritxulegi-Peñas de Aia

Ascenso a las tres cimas principales desde Aritxulegi y vuelta por la PR-GI 1010 paralela a los canales de agua de Endara.

Tras el alto de Aritxulegi y túnel, llegaremos a una zona de aparcamiento. Buscaremos las trazas del PR-GI 1010 y GR-121 que nos ascienden por la vertiente izquierda de las Peñas, en paralelo a una alambrada, hasta una cueva.

Poco antes de adentrarse en el bosque, abandonarmos la GR 121 para tomar el camino directo a las crestas de las cimas, primero por el pinar de Larraundi y un mirador. La senda, con hitos y marcas de spray, sigue cresteando y enfila la cima principal, Erroibide por su flanco derecho con algún paso más complicado sobre todo en tiempo húmedo, que nos puede obligar a utilizar las manos.

Las cimas de Erroilbide, Txurrumurru e Irumugarrieta se comunican por terreno un poco complicado procurando no perder altura ni asomarse demasiado a terrenos aéreos.

De la última cima descenderemos por un pequeño bosque de alerces hasta una pista de tierra. Allí recuperaremos las marcas de PR-GI 1010 anterior, que nos giran al Este hasta un merendero; de ahí, descenso hasta encontrarnos con el canal de agua del embalse de Domiko. Lo seguiremos con cuidado por su orilla izquierda por toda la ladera navarra de estas peñas. Enlazaremos con el PR-NA 11 navarro y lo seguiremos de nuevo hasta el restaurante cercano Aialde.

Para evitar la carretera, continuaremos por PR-NA 11a mano derecha de la carretera de nuevo hasta el túnel y el puerto.

Aritxulegi-Peñas de Aia is a 6 mile moderately popular intermediate route located near Lesaka. This hike primary route can be used both directions and has a moderate overall physical rating. This route climbs 2,129 ft with a max elevation of 2,613 ft then descends -2,115 ft.
