An addition to my earlier comment: the very beginning of the trail (starting from the north) to the first bridge is good. Then go over the bridge and pick up B. Lowtown to continue going south on enjoyable trails.

Rode back from Motown. Beginner rider, figured it would be a piece of cake after Motown given blue rating. All sketch, no fun. Honestly least favourite trail in Don so far.

Not worth the trouble. Lots of hike a bike sections due to washouts.

We came from the north end, near bermondsey, and we couldn’t find anywhere to hop on the trail safely from the railway tracks. Maybe we needed to go further south, but from our vantage point it was terrible.

That sounds like the old washed out section, I think it's roughly 30m further down the tracks where the trail continues

Okay, we walked about 250m down from the spot where we got onto the railway tracks and didn’t see any good safe spots to re-enter the trail. Will give it another shot one day and report back!

This trail is unsafe. This trail is not fun.
Perhaps it was at one point, but the eroded hike a bike sections make this trail worthless in my opinion. Experienced riders of the Don likely know this, and can judge for themselves whether or not to ride this trail at their own risk. However newer riders rely on trailforks to explore our trail system. I know because three years ago I started riding the don for the first time, and the maps/ratings on here are how I learned what trails to ride, at my own pace.
This trail being labeled a blue is beyond misleading. It represents the trail as a relaxed, low risk, low consequence route through the area that is appropriate for riders looking for that sort of thing. This is contrary to reality.
I propose that the route on the map be truncated to the western section from don mills underpass to STD-Town connector. Unless I am mistaken this should avoid the deprecated sections. If we wish to leave the eastern section for informational purposes it should be rated hiking only, or very high difficulty to reflect the true level of risk/consequence associated.

Coming back from Motown it’s pretty overgrown in spots, erosion gets pretty bad and had to walk in a few spots but overall it’s still a decent way back.

Is there a motown "extension" that branches off the switchbacks at the end near the tracks and heads north towards secrets of flemo? Pretty fun northbound with jump opportunities. Not so great the other way, but there doesn't seem to be a good alternate return route.

That section is known as 'Moartown' and is unfortunately hidden off of trailforks, but at the end of moartown when you reach the paved path, directly across is another trail 'noodle doodle' (also hidden) that will bring you back to the bridge, then you just ride the new metal bridges back to motown.

I was lot for hours on the train tracks and ended up seeing a golf course I wasn’t aloud on. We rode kitchen sink and got ona main road. Would not recommend as it leaves you to either ride it all backwards which is a pain. The start is fun tho.

That doesn't sound fun, for future reference, when you get to the train tracks, directly across them leads back down to a trail called standard deviation that can take you back to the main valley.

Or across the train bridge and then to your right is the start of Kitchen sink and Dr Quads.

Hope this helps Smile

The left-curving banked structure that is seen in one of the photos above dated Oct 12 2020 should probably not be ridden. I didn't think anybody was riding it, until I saw some video footage just the other day from someone who did. The bottom part of the structure dropped about 18" in a land slump during sometime Jan-Feb 2020. After that, I believe some trail runners patched it back together, including some new cleats that assist them to run up it. As far as I'm concerned it was a hack job done by the light of the moon, and whoever patched it up certainly did not address the underlying instability of the bank there. And, those cleats are a good 2" high, just enough to kick the front wheel descending unless the rider is pretty steady. Bottom line, treat it with extreme caution as it is NOT a maintained structure.

For sure, it's best to skip the bank and rid the dirt path down to the flatter part of the bridge.

The ground under this structure has continued to slump, and the exit ladder is now teetering off into space with a decided gap between it and the bank. whoever it is that insists upon riding this structure as it collapses in slow motion has dumped more and more crap and garbage on top of it to keep it 'rideable'. My cursory glance shows 2 layers of pallets, and 2 layers of 2x SPF off-cuts have been dumped in there within the past year. The original low ladder section is no longer even visible under this accumulation of crap. I hope whoever is dumping that garbage in there is planning to pull it all out again when the slump finally gives way for good.

FYI this is only the first 2/3rds of this trail. If heading north, the full trail joins the Dr. Quads/Fruitloop connector and then veers off to the left at the start of Quads. It then travels along a lovely plateau before dropping down to the river. Where one might be inclined to connect it with the northern section of STD, thus creating, some might say satisfying, Motown/B.Lowtown loop.

This trail is not rideable, tried today. Some sections along the riverbank are totally gone due to erosion. The vegetation is way overgrown, and some parts have large wild rose bushes you have to negotiate with. It would definitely be worthy of reconstruction, but not worth your time in its current state.

Still rideable, when your coming from mo town over the tracks there's a couple spots where its tight along the river due to erosion. Great way to get back to the don mills area after running mo town

Amazing trail with Some scary sketchy wooden features that’ll make you tingle all over. A classic “shit yer pants” Don trail. Unless you use steroids frequently you will most likely need to walk a couple uphill sections. Bad ratings come from pussies.

Trail Motown
Lots of cornering, switchbacks, Hills, of camber riding. The last half is probably more of a closed in forest this time of year.

Deep woods off strongly recommended!!!

I took it the wrong way, I think it's way more fun if you start if after STD near the rail road bridge (North/East), as most of the features are oriented this way.

Trail Motown
LOTS of tight cornering and a fair amount of climbing. Minimal traffic—it’s super rare that I come across another cyclist or hiker. Feels much more isolated than the trails in the main valley.

STD is often badly overgrown whenever I’ve ridden. As others have mentioned it’s washed out in sections that run close to the river bank, at which point you pretty much have to hike. I regard STD as a necessary evil in that I only take it when I don’t feel like climbing back out of Motown.

Some fallen trees and washed out sections. Hard to get a good flow in some sections.

A lot of washed out sections now, meaning hike-a-bike or railway ride sections. These really break up the flow of the trail
