Agree with previous two commenters, riding this from west to east is no good. You end up hiking your bike up all the cool features and then bike down the boring section.

If you are wanting to do the full Black Mountain trails I would suggest just skipping Upper Upper Black Mountain and entering Upper Black Mountain from Clawhammer Road

I echo the other commenters. This is basically just an access road to Avery Gap.

I agree with provin1327. We rode it west to east, and by rode it, I mean we hiked it. Just ride Avery if you're going that way.

The 2021 reroute is quite good! It is more approachable than the washed out old trail, but still takes some precision to ride fast. The feel is similar to lower Black with great flow and lots of little kickers, but steeper and tighter and more exposed. Keep off the brakes and it rips!

Tons of fun! Fast chunky, even has a rock drop you can roll or launch. Riding this as a climb from west to east would suck. Definitely ride it as a descent from east to west towards the intersection of Avery, Buckwheat, and Club Gap

Have your technical shoes on or be ready for a significant hike-a-bike.
