This route has been designed for the Bigfoot Adventure Challenge (bigfootadventurechallenge.com) but is also awesome for anyone looking for one of the areas toughest gravel road climbs with amazing views throughout.
This route starts in downtown Shasta Lake City adjacent to Heritage Coffee but the rider can start at their favorite coffee shop and work their way to Chappie's Route 1 just below Shasta Dam. This route goes from downtown Shasta Lake City along Route 151 to Shasta Dam and then across Shasta Dam and down Coram Road to Route 1. Route 1 is your first gravel and really the beginning of some amazing and tough gravel all the way to Behemotash Mountain. Enjoy views along the way particularly the one from Mammoth Butte. The return is along Route 1 to Shasta Dam but then along Lake Blvd back to Route 151 and then to your start.
