The connection between Trail Creek moto trail and Bear Lakes is still open.

The CGNF reported that there is no longer a trail easement for this trail. According to posted signs, you can no longer ride through from Bear Canyon to Bear Lakes here.

As of Sept. 18, 2022, there are some small trees intentionally cut to block this trail at the north end near Bear Canyon Trail and at the top just north of the intersection with Bear Lakes trail. There are also multiple signs warning against trespassing. I have contacted the CGNF to clarify the easement.

We talked to a Bear Canyon resident who said you can still ride the Bear Canyon loop on this trail. They just want people to stay on the trail (hunters) as the sides of the trail outside the trail easement are private. They even put in a sign that illustrated that.b

This trail is primarily on private property and has a large cattle herd and should be avoided.

Tree down just after starting the real descent, almost a blind turn. Trail up from Goose road is mostly dry, water running down the tread in expected sections of the downhill

Trail Trail Creek
Trail has been cleared except for one larger tree just before cabin. Too much for me with the hand saw. Fun ride, beginning section could use a bit of smoothing that would come if it was ridden more. Also cleared above the section most of the way to the 440 Abbreviated trail.

Dry, not dusty, still lots of green. View is worth the climb.

Trail Bear Canyon
Starts out as a typical Bozeman hiking trail with a fair amount of space to pass. Nothing special until it reaches a fun section with lots of opportunities for jumps on the way down (in about the middle). The rest of the ride is extremely steep.

I rate the ride 3 stars. I would give it more but the trail is prone to mud and has tons of mosquitoes/flies to deal with.
