I think they might have hit Sky Pilot which is a legit double black. It ends just above the river crossing for Beaver Flats..

There has been some damage to the bridge. It is undergoing repairs, but for the time being it is not recommended to take this side trail. Just use the shortcut along the tracks instead.

Well put together fun and flowy trail. Totally different than our bigger mountain riding out West. Thanks so much to the 5 local boys who guided this old Albertan down this Toronto area gem.

Trail is now fully passable when staying right / using the 'high line' on the side trails such as Hidden Fortress, Kitchen Hell, Garb City.

The actual Kitchen Sink route shown here is kind of falling to the side to these new additions that get you around the damaged areas.

Is there a motown "extension" that branches off the switchbacks at the end near the tracks and heads north towards secrets of flemo? Pretty fun northbound with jump opportunities. Not so great the other way, but there doesn't seem to be a good alternate return route.

That section is known as 'Moartown' and is unfortunately hidden off of trailforks, but at the end of moartown when you reach the paved path, directly across is another trail 'noodle doodle' (also hidden) that will bring you back to the bridge, then you just ride the new metal bridges back to motown.

This video shows where I'm talking about at the end: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOdAsNdJVhU

That doesn't sound fun, for future reference, when you get to the train tracks, directly across them leads back down to a trail called standard deviation that can take you back to the main valley.

Or across the train bridge and then to your right is the start of Kitchen sink and Dr Quads.

Hope this helps Smile

Trash Panda was built very recently & Garbage cow has been there long before. the builders were seriously in error to merge the trails. The Garbage Cow original route was perfect & works to this day.

Trash Panda might be popular but needs to be re-routed just before it meets Garbage Cow over the top of the hill along the ridge where a trail already exists & they can merge along the top of the ridge then split off.

That leaves one more issue where they again cross just at the parking lot. the real solution would have taken Trash Panda along the bush following Leslie south to leave the old Garbage Cow trail as it was. Maybe it should simply end when it meets Garbage Cow.

Anyway argue all you want, as usual someone will have to get hurt first for the right thing to be done or for the city to step in and demolish everything. Then we all lose.

Reading the edit note in the description, it looks like it wasn't the builders who merged the trails (on trailforks), I think that the builders were trying to keep both trails when building, not delete one

I think they should have just been left to co-exist, if they wanted garbage cow to be re-routed why would they have built a jump over the trail to keep it?

The Don already has a ton of unnecessarily added trails that promote trail braiding, connectors and shortcuts.

IMO, the old garbage cow trailforks route was dangerous, it told you to ride uphill (backwards) on a much more popular downhill only trail.

I agree that you shouldn't ride the trash panda backwards, but the section where you ride north on the trash panda section was flat where no one would have extreme speeds.

IMO since the garbage cow was built before trash panda, it wasn't added to braid or shortcut the trails, and doesn't pose a great risk.

Probably it along with Sink's Edge should just become part of the main line of Kitchen Sink, rather than the bit along the track which is technically trespassing on the right of way.

Super fun trail, second only to Roller Flowster as my favourite trail in the Don! The trailhead is a bit out of the way but it is definitely worth the trek to get there. Lots of fun features that need to be hit with commitment and speed so I would not recommend this for beginners.

Yay bikes! FYI the trail actually links up quite well from the end of Forplay. After you finish Forplay you can then ride Road Apples backwards to Screwdriver on to Trash Panda... then it's an easy hop down to Climbmax, esp if you ride the Dead Pussy connector. Not telling you what to do with your life of course Smile

You can either cross the railroad tracks onto STD, and it will take you back to the paved trail. Or you can go north on the railroad tracks, and climb up Lookout Trail which can bring you to Dr. Quads.

From what I can see, what's been lost is nothing but a short stretch of the trail for 60 metres on either side of the rail crossing between 3.33 and 3.45 km. Keep in mind that the original singletrack build ended at the 2.28 km mark. From there on, it was just a bunch of disorganized social trails that were convenient to ride on but were never actively built by anyone. So to the extent that 100 metres of former social trail is now covered by pavement is not of much concern at all really. What is a concern is that Phase III pavement WILL likely cover over some of the original purpose-built singletrack. The pave-fest will get underway next season. We'll see what comes of it.

Trail is rideable but needs maintenance. I’ve almost never seen another rider on this trail!

To access the portion south of Eglinton from the north section, you must go through the construction site. Access is possible, but tricky to find - keep looking!

The trail definitely is getting overgrown. Additional East Don trail construction makes it very broken up. Takes some barrier hopping to get from section to section.

South of Eglinton sections have all but disappeared from lack of use.

Hi Judi. You should be able to pick up the trail south of Eglinton via the Eglinton Ravine Trail, provided they have not blocked this one also. The trail is quite rough and passes through 2 old homeless camps but it does provide the most direct access if Kitchen Sink is blocked under Eglinton.

I'd suggest that lack of maintenance and the lack of a beginner connection to the trail are larger issues, both of which are things that app users can be advised of in the trail description rather than designating it more difficult. I've walked this with the dog more times than I can count and the overgrowth, downed branches, and lack of traffic leave this trail looking far more difficult than it is. The features along Boo Trail are similar if not more difficult, but Boo Trail is well traveled and looks easier while these trails are extremely similar.

Trail Beaver Flats
Should be noted this trail was always called "Beaver Flats" by the original builders in the Don, not lower cat. Added a request for name change to suit.

Trail Beaver Flats
Agreed. A Beginner level trail should be just that: a novice can ride it without a dismount.
